Ever since I was a teenager, I tried to see all the important films. For 22 years I was a film programmer at Vera Zienema. In 2005 I created a list of my favorite movies. At that time, the list contained 300 films. Now, it contains about 500 films. If you go through the list you will notice that some directors appear several times: Akira Kurosawa (7 times), Stanley Kubrick (6 times), Francis Ford Coppola, Jean-Luc Godard (5 times), Ingmar Bergman, Luis Bunuel, Charles Chaplin, Joel Coen, Michael Haneke, Hou Hsiao-hsien, Roman Polanski, Satyajit Ray, Billy Wilder (4 times), and about twenty directors, including Orson Welles and Yorgos Lanthimos (3 times).

There are still about 10 older movies that I am looking forward to seeing. The other movies on my watchlist are more recent.
